Chakra Yoga: Energetics of the Body, Mind & Spirit
Join Verity for this 4-part course on the Chakras, exploring the energetics of the body, mind, and spirit.
You have likely heard the chakras referenced in yoga classes, on social media or within the spiritual community, but have yet to grasp an understanding of what they actually are. Or perhaps you have some basic knowledge but would like to delve a little deeper.
Over these three weeks, we will explore the physical, emotional and energetic components as they relate to each of the seven chakras; how they manifest and come into balance through our yoga practise.
Chakras are wheels of energy that run along the central channel within the body, from the base of the spine to the crown of the head.
The first five chakras are identified as the headquarters of the five elements that exist in everyone and everything: Earth, Water, Fire, Air, and Space.
The last two chakras are thought to connect us beyond the earthly realms and physical elements. We will cover these together in our final session; moving from grounding, at the root, to transcendence, at the crown.
Have you ever wondered why parts of your body are pre-disposed to ailments or more susceptible to imbalances?
Each chakra relates to different segments in the body: the root chakra, connected to the element of earth, governs our feet all the way up to the pelvic floor; while the throat chakra, related to space, governs the throat and neck. An ailment or imbalance in a particular area can represent an imbalance within the chakra that governs that part of the body.
Each chakra also governs our emotional state. An imbalance in the root chakra could manifest as feeling stuck, uninspired or unsafe, lacking financial security. Whereas an imbalance in the third charka can manifest as feelings of disempowerment, low self-esteem, and/ or self-destructive behaviour.
Having an understanding of how the chakras influence our physical, emotional, and subtle state of being, empowers us to shift our consciousness and our lives!
